New border control complex inaugurated in Rosslare
PortRosslare Europort, which since Brexit has experienced massive growth in RoRo freight volumes to and from the rest of the EU on the continent, bypassing the UK, inaugurated its new border control complex on 7 November. The complex, commonly referred to as Terminal 7, represents an investment of EUR 230 million.
The complex will support post-Brexit checks on goods from outside the EU, enhance driver welfare, and streamline passenger and freight movement. It also plays a vital role in safeguarding Ireland’s continued access to the EU single market.
The officially opening ceremony was among other attended by the Irish Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers, together with the Irish Minister of State for the Office of Public Works, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran.
