Mols Linien plans POVL ANKER makeover
FerryPrior to taking over the ferry traffic to the Danish island Bornholm on September 1, 2018, Mols Linien will upgrade the POVL ANKER.
It had acquired the 1978-built vessel only recently from Faergen and chartered her back to her present operator until taking over the routes and services from Faergen in two years time.
POVL ANKER, according to Danish media reports, will undergo a "grand makeover". In addition to upgrading the catering facilities on board, the ferry will also get her engines modernized and have her propellers replaced by larger ones.
Beside her role a spare vessel to substitute for Faergen's Rønne – Ystad fast ferries in bad weather, the popular POVL ANKER also serves the seasonal Sassnitz (Mukran) – Rønne route. Mols Linien had also looked at the 1975-built SARDINIA VERA to serve the role, but according to reports preferred to purchase the slightly younger POVL ANKER instead.
