Millionth car through Dover for DFDS
FerryDFDS this week hit the one million mark in car volumes for 2016 on routes from Dover to Calais and Dunkerque with passengers Nigel and Theresa from Ipswich receiving gifts and a special welcome aboard COTE DES FLANDRES for a crossing to Calais.
They were welcomed by DFDS passenger director Max Foster who said: 'We’ve seen huge growth in the number of vehicles carried on routes from Dover this year, thanks in part to the introduction of two new ships on the Dover-Calais service.'
The milestone coincides with a significant weekend for the award-winning operator which has just celebrated the its 150th anniversary of its formation in Copenhagen on 11 December 1866. In addition to more than one million cars this year, DFDS has also also exceeded 3.5 million passengers and is on track to transport 1.4 million freight units by the end of the year.
