Million milestone for DFDS out of Dover
FerryDFDS Seaways have passed the one million mark for freight units transported this year on the English Channel routes from Dover to Dunkirk and Calais, smashing the 2016 target more than two months early. Delighted freight manager Wayne Bullen commented: ”We knew we were on course, but the special moment came earlier than originally predicted. Milestones such as this emphasise the high level of service we are offering on the Channel routes and underline the confidence and loyalty received from customers. We now expect to reach 1.3 million units by the end of 2016.”
The occasion was celebrated with DFDS handing out complimentary branded travel mugs to freight drivers arriving for the October sailing from Dover to Dunkerque by DOVER SEAWAYS and there was a special hamper of gifts to Mical Vrba, the driver of the millionth vehicle who works for Inex Spedition, a transport and storage operator based in the north east of the Czech Republic at Trutnov, two hours from the capital of Prague.
DFDS, who celebrate their 150th anniversary in December, has already achieved a 63 per-cent increase in freight volumes on Dover routes in the second quarter of this year, part of an upswing following the addition of new acquisitions COTES DES DUNES and COTE DES FLANDRES, the company now offering up to 54 daily sailings on the two routes to France.
