As reported by Shippax, ILE ROUGE, which has been long-term chartered from Stena RoRo, left Perama, Greece 19 August. Once in North Sydney, the ILE ROUGE, will undergo final preparations, crew training and familiarization activities before entering service later this Fall.

This vessel will help to strengthen the ferry service through increased capacity and providing customers with a comfortable and modern travel experience. Thank you to the Government of Canada for their ongoing support and look forward to welcoming the Île Rouge to its new home in Canada," says Colin Tibbo, Vice President of Service and Innovation at Marine Atlantic.

ILE ROUGE had a bunker stop-over in Gibraltar before starting the cross-Atlantic part of the journey 25 August with an ETA North Sydney, Canada 3 September.

Marine Atlantic, which with ILE ROUGE, operates a fleet of five RoPax vessels, under a Canadian federal Crown corporation tasked with fulfilling the constitutional mandate of offering freight and passenger service between the Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia.
