ILE ROUGE sails to Canada from Perama
FerryLongterm chartered to Marine Atlantic, the Stena RoRo-owned 30,551 GT ILE ROUGE has left Perama, Greece, on 19 August and is finally on its way to Canada after an extensive conversion of its accommodation spaces and RoRo access. The vessel is already strengthened to Iceclass 1A standards and is equipped with three bow thrusters for excellent manoeuvrability.
VDN Ippokampos were responsible for the accommodation conversion project which started in February. The vessel's stern and bow ramp arrangements have also been modified to be fully compatible with the existing double level linkspans in Port aux Basques and North Sydney.
ILE ROUGE was built in 2002 by HDW in Germany and has a capacity for 821 passengers, with 146 cabins of which 48 are now pet compatible plus 82 reclining seats, and 1,930 lane metres of freight. The vessel was delivered as the SUPERFAST X but most recently was on charter to Corsica Linea as the A NEPITA.
