Kenneth Gustavsson Takes Over as Chairman of the Swedish Passenger Shipping Association
Each year, the members of the Swedish Passenger Shipping Association collectively transport millions of passengers, and now the association has a new chairman at the helm. Kenneth Gustavsson, CEO of Gotland Alandia Cruises, has been elected chairman of the association, which works to strengthen the role of passenger shipping and highlight its importance to Swedish tourism.
At the Swedish Passenger Shipping Association’s annual general meeting on 9 May, Kenneth Gustavsson, CEO of Gotland Alandia Cruises, which operates the cruise ship BIRKA GOTLAND, was elected as the new chairman of the association. He succeeds Marcus Risberg, who will assume his new role as CEO of Viking Line at the turn of the year.
Kenneth Gustavsson has been actively involved in the Passenger Shipping Association for several years, most recently as vice-chairman. With his extensive experience in the shipping industry, he has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
“I look forward to continuing to develop the association’s important work in promoting the significance of passenger shipping and strengthening the tourism industry in Sweden – particularly at a time when our sector is undergoing major changes, not least in sustainability and travel habits,” says Kenneth Gustavsson, the new chairman of the Passenger Shipping Association.
Today, the association comprises 12 different passenger shipping companies. Together, the association champions and advances key issues in ferry shipping to promote growth, continued development, and long-term profitability. The members of the Passenger Shipping Association work actively to develop and highlight the many positive aspects of passenger ferry traffic. This is achieved by disseminating knowledge, fostering engagement in the shipping industry, and advocating for shipping companies involved in tourism within, as well as to and from, Sweden.
