K Line takes delivery of the CENTURY HIGHWAY GREEN
Ro-roFollowing closely NYK’s LNG PCTC, Imabari’s Tadotsu shipyard delivered the LNG-powered CENTURY HIGHWAY GREEN to K Line.
Built to fulfil the demand for green logistics from Toyota, the 7,080-CEU capacity 199.98m long x 37.2m beam PCTC has a number of advanced features. The MAN B&W 8S50ME-C GI dual fuel EGR-equipped main engine has a maximum output of 9,380 kW at 92 rpm.
While the vessel's service speed is less than the typical 20 knots of recent PCTCs, the CO2 emissions per transported unit are significantly reduced, in the region of 45% based on the EEDI. The vessel also is equipped with Nokia's DX (Digital Transformation) solution, including their 4G FAN (Field Area Network), providing high-speed secure comms between ship and shore.
As the first LNG-powered vessel in the K Line fleet, the vessel has an enlarged accommodation for a maximum crew of 50 persons, the extra capacity added for training purposes.
