JIAN ZHEN HAO enters service between China and Japan
FerryJIAN ZHEN HAO, China-Japan International Ferry (CHINJIF) 's new ship left Shanghai for Osaka on 8 June 2024 and entered service on the Shanghai (China)-Osaka (Japan) route.
JIAN ZHEN HAO was built by CMI Jinling Weihai and designed by SDARI. The vessel can accommodate 192 passengers and 334 TEU. The ro-pax has a length of 167.2m, 25.0m beam and a 21-knot service speed. The vessel conforms to the latest SOLAS 2020 regulations, including Safe Return to Port. It is also expected to meet the third stage of the EEDI index as well as CCS's G-ECO green ecological ship notation.
The first-generation JIAN ZHEN HAO (ex-HIRYU, built in 1974) entered the route in 1985, when the route was opened. In 1994, XIN JIAN ZHEN (14,543gt, built in 1993) took on the route. Therefore, JIAN ZHEN HAO is the third-generation JIAN ZHEN ferry.
Jian Zhen is a Chinese Buddhist monk (688-763) who visited Japan to promote Buddhism.
