Italian Government selects a solution for Venice
Port The 'Tresse Nuovo' project submitted by Venice Municipality and Venice Port Authority to sort out the intricate affair of restriction enforced on over 40,000 GT cruiseships across San Marco and Giudecca canals has been selected by the Italian Government altogether with €2 million financing.
The excavation project will offer large cruise ships the possibility to reach the Marittima terminal avoiding the passage in front of St. Mark and the Giudecca Canal.
A modest link will be created between the Malamocco-Marghera channel and the Canale Vittorio Emanuele, west of the Venice cruise terminal.
The advantage is that the ships will still be able to dock in the Venice terminal.
