Work starts on new Viking Line quay in Turku

PortThe Port of Turku has started building a new S2 quay for Viking Line at the Fregatti terminal, with Oteran Oy as main contractor. Work began at the turn of September and October and is due to be completed in 2028.

The project covers renovation of 220 metres of existing quay, a passenger gangway, three further gangways, a main ramp and a side ramp, and relocation of the automatic mooring systems to the quay. The new structure stands on steel tube piles 45–50 metres long, nearly 40 km in total, with about 15,000 m³ of concrete cast on site.

The quay is part of Ferry Terminal Turku, a EUR 172 million renewal of the passenger port that includes a new joint terminal.
