Hankyu Ferry takes 2020-built ferry out of service following scheduled drydocking
FerryJapan’s Hankyu Ferry will be one vessel short on its Shinmoji–Kobe route until June next year.
The route’s 2020-built YAMATO departed on 9 October for Tsuneishi Kure Dockyard near Hiroshima for scheduled maintenance drydocking. However, Hankyu Ferry has now announced that the vessel is expected to remain out of service considerably longer than originally planned.
On 2 November, the operator announced that YAMATO would not return to service until 6 June 2027. Hankyu Ferry has not disclosed the circumstances behind the prolonged absence. YAMATO, which has capacity for 663 passengers and 2,700 lane metres, serves the Shinmoji–Kobe route alongside its sister ship SETTSU.
