Fresh Start for Brødrene Aa at Hyen Shipyard
High-speedIn the wake of Brødrene Aa's bankruptcy, efforts have been ongoing to revive operations at the Hyen shipyard through a new venture. The Aa family's holding company, Brødrene Aa Eiendom, had been in talks with the Finnish conglomerate Summa Defence over recent months, but those discussions have now reached an impasse. As a result, Brødrene Aa Eiendom has taken matters into its own hands by forming Brødrene Aa Hyen AS.
The new entity is currently being bolstered with fresh capital, with plans to recommence shipyard activities within the next two to three weeks.
Close collaboration is underway with customers, suppliers, banks, local authorities, and business support networks, though progress hinges on resolving key outstanding issues. Anstein Aa, chairman of Brødrene Aa Eiendom AS, emphasised a phased approach to ramping up operations. "A critical factor in making this relaunch a success," he noted, "will be re-engaging former staff members, whose specialised expertise and institutional knowledge are irreplaceable."
Meanwhile, further afield in Eikefjord, Brødrene Aa has already breathed new life into its facilities this summer via Eikefjord Slipp AS. Since August, the site has employed between 40 and 50 workers.
