
Fourth ferry berth for Heysham Port
PortPeel Ports are investing GBP10m. to create a fourth berth at the Irish Sea port of Heysham including installation of a new link span bridge to enable larger ro-ro vessels to use the Lancashire location which now has new road connections with the M6 motorway.
Current Heysham users are the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company with passenger and vehicle sailings to and from Douglas; Seatruck who operate freight services to Dublin and Warrenport; while Stena Line have freight link with Belfast.
Other Heysham work includes provision of a pontoon to handle off-shore crew transfer vessels, creation of a new port entrance and improvements to port IT and terminal operating systems.
