EXPRESS 5 to sail more in 2026
High-speedIn the sailing schedule for 2026, EXPRESS 5 will have to sail 80 more departures than this year. This is because in 2026, Bornholmslinjen has wanted several consecutive days for maintenance of EXPRESS 5. On the other hand, the number of weeks with lay-up days will be cut significantly.
In 2025, EXPRESS 5 has had the so-called lay-up days from Monday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon. However, it has turned out that the technical department has had too little time for some of the major maintenance tasks on the fast ferry, which can be quite complicated.
Therefore, Bornholmslinjen has received the Ministry of Transport's approval of a new plan for lay-up days, where weeks of lay-up are planned from Monday afternoon to Thursday afternoon. At the same time, this means that maintenance only needs to be done in weeks 3, 5, 7, 9, 13, 16, 18, 39, 41 and 50. This will trigger 80 more departures with EXPRESS 5 in 2026 compared to this year.
The so-called lay-up days were introduced to increase the operational stability of the fast ferries, as it makes it possible to carry out programmed maintenance of EXPRESS 5 that cannot be reached by continuous operation – especially long-term maintenance work. At the same time, EXPRESS 1 is kept in more continuous operation during the off-season than it would otherwise have done, which is also an advantage for operational stability.
