Dodekanisos Seaways returns to GOT Marine for third catamaran after 20 years
High-speedGreek operator Dodekanisos Seaways has signed a contract with Norwegian builder GOT Marine for a new high-speed passenger catamaran, marking the company's first order from the Mandal yard in two decades.
The Rhodes-based operator, which links the islands of the Dodecanese and the northeastern Aegean, already runs two GOT Marine-built catamarans: DODEKANISOS EXPRESS and DODEKANISOS PRIDE. The latter was delivered from the yard at Vestnes in Mandal in 2005.
The new vessel is a Sealord 41, a design developed in-house by GOT Marine. It measures 41 metres in length and is capable of carrying more than 300 passengers and six cars. Construction begins immediately, with delivery scheduled for autumn 2027. The contract is valued at just under NOK 200 million.
GOT Marine has built close to 150 vessels since DODEKANISOS PRIDE left the yard in 2005, including workboats, patrol craft, passenger ferries, fishing vessels and specialised platforms. The company highlighted that some of the same craftspeople who built the operator's earlier catamarans will work on the new vessel. "It is rewarding to see that some of the same hands that built Dodekanisos Pride twenty years ago now have the opportunity to build vessel number three," said André Rustad, Managing Director of GOT Marine.
Heine Østby, Group CEO of GOT, said the repeat order reflected the durability of the builder's vessels, while CFO Hans Erlend Meland noted that the operator has signalled interest in a fourth and fifth vessel, pointing to a longer-term partnership.
