CMAL takes ownership of Ardrossan Harbour
PortCaledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) completed the purchase of Ardrossan Harbour on behalf of the Scottish Government. The acquisition from Peel Ports Group includes the full harbour area, the Arran and Irish berths, linkspans, car park and marshalling area, part of the land currently used by the boatyard, and the approach road. CMAL, owned by The Scottish Government, is buying Ardrossan harbour to speed up its long-planned upgrade for sailings to Brodick on Arran.
The ferry operator part of CMAL, Caledonian MacBrayne, is operating two routes out of Ardrossan Harbour: Ardrossan – Brodick and Ardrossan – Campbeltown. The delayed upgrade has forced Caledonian MacBrayne to switch its new GLEN SANNOX to the longer Arran route from Troon.
