BMT acquires Australian naval architects One2three

High-speedBMT has acquired Sydney-based One2three Naval Architects, expanding its independent commercial and specialist vessel design capability across ferries, specialist craft, autonomy and advanced vessel technologies. The acquisition was announced on 23 July 2026.

Founded in 2005, One2three has delivered more than 300 vessels across over 30 countries and is known for efficient hull form design and high-performance ferries. Its work spans commercial ferries, para-military craft, luxury yachts and battery-powered vessels, with customers in Australia, Europe, Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

BMT says existing customer relationships, delivery teams and active projects will continue without disruption.

Graeme Nayler, regional business director APAC at BMT, pointed to One2three's record in high-speed aluminium ferries and advanced multihull craft, and described the deal as a further step in BMT's Asia-Pacific growth following its acquisition of AMT, citing rising demand for commercial shipbuilding and ferry capability in markets such as the United States.

One2three managing director Steve Quigley said joining BMT would allow the business to scale globally while retaining its technical quality and customer focus, and cited access to BMT's international engineering network and lifecycle support.
