AIDAVITA at the Port of Kiel
Best cruise shipping season ever for Port of Kiel
PortThe cruise shipping season ended as of October 8th for the Port of Kiel, and they can look back at record season with a total of 147 calls (133 in 2015) and 485.000 passengers (458.000 in 2015).
A big contribution to the growth can be explained by the decision of AIDA Cruises and TUI Cruises to both use Kiel as their base port for three of their ships.
Port of Kiel's Managing Director Dr Dirk Claus says; "We can look back on Kiel's best cruise shipping season to date. The number of calls by ships, as well as passenger volumes and also overall tonnage, were all at record levels for the port and came as the Ostseekai Terminal marked its tenth year of operation. The investment of €35 million made in the terminal has been a sound one".
