Ro-roThe Florida-based, American Roll On Roll Off Carrier Group (ARC) added its ninth US-flag PCTC to its fleet in the South Korean port city of Incheon on 2 February – ARC HONOR. The 2012-built and 7,934 CEU capacity vessel was previously Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s TULANE.
ARC HONOR is now part of the US Maritime Administrations (MarAd) Maritime Security Programme (MSP) and the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA).
The vessel is now operating with ARC's global network, supporting the US' national defence and economic security through trade.
ARC HONOR is what her owners' call a LPTC (large car/truck carrier) and is ARC's fourth such vessel. She is crewed by US merchant seafarers by the Seafarers International Union.
The South Korean-built vessel is able to carry tracked and wheeled vehicles, helicopters and other high and heavy project cargoes. The 72,295gt vessel's main vehicle deck is 6.5m high, with five hoistable vehicle decks provided, along with a stern-quarter ramp rated for cargo up to 320 tonnes.
