Sallaum Lines launches dedicated European road logistics arm
Ro-roSallaum Lines has launched Sallaum Logistics Ltd, a new dedicated European automotive logistics company extending the group's maritime vehicle-transport expertise into inland distribution across Europe. Based in Vilnius, Lithuania, the new company will handle finished vehicle logistics from ports to distribution hubs, dealerships and other automotive customers, positioning itself as a single accountable partner for the final leg of the vehicle supply chain that Sallaum Lines' ocean services have traditionally ended at.
Sallaum Logistics starts operations with a fleet of 50 truck-and-trailer units, using modern multi-car transporter configurations capable of carrying up to ten vehicles, depending on type and local regulations. The company plans to grow the owned fleet to 300 trucks by 2029, using a mixed model of owned and leased vehicles to optimise capacity.
Initial operations cover Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, France, the Czech Republic and Poland, with further expansion planned. The network connects key ports including Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam and Marseille to inland destinations.
Beyond road haulage, the company's service offering spans transport from factories to ports, cross-border transport, fleet distribution, port-to-dealer and port-to-distribution-centre deliveries, vehicle processing and pre-delivery inspection, and vehicle storage at selected sites. Sallaum Logistics also plans to integrate GPS tracking and telematics across its fleet, and points to Euro-compliant standards and route optimisation as part of its sustainability approach.
"Customers have trusted Sallaum Lines to move vehicles across oceans with reliability. Sallaum Logistics carries that commitment further inland," said Sami Sallaum, chairman of Sallaum Lines.
Edvinas Rybelis, chief executive of Sallaum Logistics, said: "We are building a road logistics company with professional drivers and real-time visibility designed for long-term scale."
