YUI LINE KOSHIKI has entered service
FerryKoshikishima Shosen's new ro-pax, YUI LINE KOSHIKI, entered service on the Koshikishima Islands–Ichiki Kushikino route on 20 March 2025. The Koshikishima Islands are remote islands off Kyushu, a southern island of Japan.
YUI LINE KOSHIKI measures 73.00 metres long, with a beam of 13.20 metres, a depth of 9.60 metres, and a designed load draught of 3.75 metres. Her two main engines are Daihatsu Diesel 6DEM-28 type diesel engines (2,270 kW x 2) with twin screws.
She can carry up to 358 passengers, 41 cars only, or 19 cars and 5 medium-sized trucks, or 17 cars and 5 large trucks at a service speed of 17.5 knots. She was built at the Naikai Zosen Setoda shipyard in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture.
The passenger capacity is reduced by 30 compared to her predecessor, the 2002-built FERRY NEW KOSHIKI, but a nursing room, a children’s room, and other facilities are included instead. She is also equipped with barrier-free facilities for people with disabilities and elderly individuals. Barrier-free seats are easily accessible from the car deck via a large barrier-free lift. The brilliant lily, the flower representing the Koshikishima Islands, is painted on both sides of her hull.
