
WALLENIUS SOL and Holmen enter long-term shipping partnership for paperboard exports
Ro-roWALLENIUS SOL and Holmen have signed a long-term shipping agreement covering exports of premium paperboard from Holmen’s mill in Iggesund, Sweden.
WALLENIUS SOL also announced two strategic appointments to the management team.
Under the new agreement, WALLENIUS SOL will handle sea transport to key European markets using its modern, energy-efficient fleet. The cargo will be discharged in Kiel, Germany – a new destination in WALLENIUS SOL’s network – enhancing connectivity and efficiency for Holmen’s exports to Central Europe.
“This collaboration ensures reliable, cost efficient and sustainable logistics for our exports,” says Ronny Björklund, Head of Logistics Procurement, Holmen Board and Paper.
“We’re proud and excited to welcome Holmen as a long-term partner and to add Kiel as a new port in our service,” adds Jonas Wåhlin, Chief Commercial Officer, WALLENIUS SOL. “The addition of these volumes further strengthens our network in the Bay of Bothnia.”
The partnership strengthens both companies’ commitment to sustainable logistics, combining Holmen’s renewable products with WALLENIUS SOL’s low-emission transport solutions.
New role for Henrik Karle as Fleet Director/CTO and Mathias Arnbert appointed new COO
Henrik Karle, previously Chief Operating Officer, will now take on the role as Fleet Director/Chief Technical Officer (CTO). In this role, Henrik will focus on developing and optimizing our fleet, with a strong emphasis on long-term sustainability, efficiency, and technical advancement. He will also oversee all newbuild projects and ensure that our fleet’s hardware – including vessel systems, bunkering, and insurance – remains cost-effective, safe, and compliant with regulations. He will also be responsible for Procurement.
Mathias Arnbert, formerly Trade Operations Manager, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO). Mathias brings a wealth of operational experience and a deep understanding of our business. As COO, he will be responsible for all operational activities, ensuring our services meet both short- and long-term goals in terms of performance, efficiency, and customer value.
