TYRFING gets further delayed
FerrySamsø's upcoming electric ferry, TYRFING, will be further delayed. Unfortunately, the ferry's preparation for sailing at the shipyard in Svendborg is taking a long time – the plan is now to put the ferry into operation with Samsølinjen on 16 January.
Unfortunately, the final work on Samsølinjen's new electric ferry, TYRFING, is dragging on once again. The technicians have worked hard over Christmas and New Year, but they must now admit that they will not be able to get the ferry ready for the planned start on 6 January 2026.
"This is discouraging news – but unfortunately we cannot do much else than postpone the ferry's first trip on Samsølinjen once again," says Molslinjen's CEO, Kristian Durhuus.
Over the weekend, Molslinjen, external suppliers and the shipyard in Svendborg have drawn up a new plan that will put TYRFING into operation on 16 January. Until then, the almost identical electric ferry, NERTHUS, sails on Samsø, while FRIGG SYDFYEN handles the trips on Alslinjen, which is waiting to get NERTHUS to the route between Bøjden and Fynshav.
"We can thus deliver a good product and meet the daily demand from passengers, but we are very annoyed about another delay," says Kristian Durhuus.
The plan is now for TYRFING to have its last inspection on 15 January 2026 – and then put into operation on the Samsø line the day after on 16 January 2026. At the same time, the current Samsø ferry, NERTHUS, will move to Alslinjen.
