TT-Line’s MARCO POLO ran aground
FerryIn the morning of 22 October at 03.25 Swedish time, TT-Line’s MARCO POLO ran aground some 5 nm SW of its destination port, Karlshamn, Sweden, with 41 passengers and 30 crew members. MARCO POLO suffered a hull breach following the grounding and so far more than 14,000 litres of oil has been collected along the coast. All passengers were safely evacuated.
As of 27 October, MARCO POLO is still grounded. Two crew members have been detained and charged with negligence in maritime traffic.
