Strong summer for Stena Lines Denmark route across Kattegat

FerrySummer in Gothenburg continued to attract visitors from Denmark. The number of Danes travelling on Stena Line’s Frederikshavn route increased by 19% year-on-year between June and August.

Of the summer months, July accounted for the largest proportion of Danish passengers and recorded the strongest growth, rising by as much as 26% compared with the same month last year.

General visitor statistics for Gothenburg show a strong trend among international visitors. The increases from the UK and Norway stand out most, but the number of Danish visitors to the Gothenburg region also rose significantly compared with summer 2025, increasing by 19% in June and July.

The ferry infrastructure will also change within the next few years, when Stena Line’s terminals for its Denmark and Germany services move from Masthuggskajen and Majnabbe, respectively, to Arendal. The relocation is currently scheduled for 2031.
