Marine Atlantic charters A NEPITA from Stena RoRo
FerryStena RoRo has chartered out A NEPITA on a five-year agreement with Marine Atlantic. The RoPax vessel, built in 2002, has been owned by Stena RoRo since 2014 and has been employed by Corsica Linea in the Mediterranean since 2020.
Throughout 2025, Marine Atlantic has surveyed the market for replacement tonnage for its RoPax LEIF ERICSON, built in 1991, which operates on the route between North Sydney and Port aux Basques.
According to Marine Atlantic, A NEPITA will now undergo a series of modifications to fit the company’s port infrastructure, ahead of an expected arrival in Canada during the summer of 2026. A NEPITA was built as SUPERFAST X for the Greek operator Superfast Ferries at HDW in Kiel.
With capacity for 1,200 passengers and 1,930 lanemetres, the RoPax is the last of a total of six vessels that Superfast Ferries had built at HDW between 2001 and 2002 for routes in both Southern and Northern Europe. A NEPITA is therefore also a sister ship to SUPERFAST IX, which Marine Atlantic chartered from Tallink between 2008 and 2024.
During that period, the vessel operated under the name ATLANTIC VISION, including on the route between North Sydney and Port aux Basques. Stena RoRo carried out an extensive conversion of the vessel in 2020, ahead of the current charter to Corsica Linea.
