Stena Line gets access to shore power in Ventspils
FerryThe Ventspils Freeport Authority has signed a contract for the construction of a shore power connection point at the ferry terminal of the Port of Ventspils. This will be the first berth in the port of Ventspils where ferries will be able to use a high-capacity shore power supply point. Berth No. 16 was built in 2000, and it provides mooring and handling services for ferries and other passenger vessels.
The berth is currently actively used by Stena Line, which operate on the Ventspils-Nynäshamn (Sweden)–Ventspils route. The construction of the power connection point at Berth 16 of the Port of Ventspils is part of the electricity infrastructure reconstruction project for three berths - no. 14, 15, and 16 - planned in three independent stages. The project is being implemented within the framework of the European Union Cohesion Fund.
