SPIRIT OF TASMANIA V is now on its way to Australia
FerryTT-Line Tasmania’s SPIRIT OF TASMANIA V began its voyage down under on 7 March from Leith in Scotland to Tasmania, with its first stop in Gibraltar. SPIRIT OF TASMANIA V is the last of two 48,000 GT RoPax ferries built by Rauma Marine Construction in Finland.
The deployment of both newbuilds on the route between Devonport in Tasmania and Geelong on the Australian mainland has been postponed due to delays in the construction of new, larger port facilities.
As a result, both new ferries were initially laid up in Leith after delivery in September 2024 and June 2025, respectively. SPIRIT OF TASMANIA IV left Leith at the end of June 2025 and arrived in Australia on 12 August.
SPIRIT OF TASMANIA V is expected to use the same route south of Africa via Cape Verde, Cape Town, and Mauritius.
