Scuderia AS builds a world leading industrial Group for pilot and passenger seating

Scuderia AS announces a major industrial initiative through the acquisition of Georg Eknes Industrier in Bergen and the business formerly known as Modell Møbler in Kristiansand. Together with Alu Design / Seat Innovation, which Scuderia already owns, the company brings together some of Norway’s strongest professional environments within pilot, operator and passenger seating into one unified industrial group.

Through this consolidation, Scuderia AS establishes an industrial platform with the ambition of becoming a world leader in premium pilot and passenger seating for maritime vessels, high-speed craft, ferries, offshore, defence-related environments and other demanding specialist applications.

The group builds on a long Norwegian industrial heritage and well-established market positions. Georg Eknes Industrier has developed and manufactured first-class passenger seating since the early 1980s, with industrial roots dating back to 1952. Alu Design / Seat Innovation has built a strong international position within professional work seating, including pilot and operator chairs, shock-mitigating seats and deck-rail systems. Modell Møbler has long been a recognised name in high-quality passenger seating solutions for ferries and ships.

“We are genuinely pleased to have gained new owners who are highly motivated to take over our quality products, further develop the company and safeguard our name and strong reputation in the market. We are extremely proud of our products and highly motivated to strengthen our capacity together with Scuderia, continuing our development in line with market requirements, expectations and customer needs. Eknes will continue to deliver quality products, deliver on time and ensure that the customer always comes first, as we have always done. We look forward to continued journey with Scuderia and to support our customers with even greater strength, an expanded product portfolio and increased capacity,” says Janne Eknes, CEO of Georg Eknes Industrier AS.

Collectively, the new group will have a strong customer and reference base consisting of some of the market’s most recognised players, including Color Line, Kongsberg Maritime, Oceaneering, VARD Group, MH Wirth, Norwegian Electric System, DFDS, Bastø Fosen, Siem Offshore, Star Clippers, Acciona Trasmediterránea, Destination Gotland, Balearia, Seajets and Molslinjen.

“We are not merely building a larger group – we are creating a new global leader in premium seating solutions for maritime and industrial markets. By bringing Eknes, Modell Møbler and Alu Design / Seat Innovation together under the Scuderia umbrella, we unite Norwegian design tradition, proven industrial expertise and international market strength in one powerful organisation,”
says Tor Olav Ljosland, Chairman of the Board of Scuderia AS.

As a key part of its growth strategy, Scuderia is also establishing a new 5,000-square-metre factory in Shanghai. The facility will manufacture the group’s seating models under licence for the Chinese market and will serve as a strategic hub for further expansion across Asia. At the same time, the Norwegian competence base in Kristiansand and Bergen will be maintained and strengthened. The group thus combines Norwegian development, engineering and design with international production and scalability.

The combined group achieves a broad market position, ranging from advanced pilot and operator seating to complete passenger seating solutions for high-speed craft, ferries, offshore vessels and specialised ships, as well as premium passenger seating solutions for a growing rail segment. The ambition is to establish the world’s strongest industrial platform for the development, production and licence-based international scaling of premium seating solutions.

In the period ahead, Scuderia AS will prioritise further development of its product portfolio, increased capacity and the establishment of a unified international organisation for sales, service, development and project deliveries.
