Record figures on the Bornholmslinjen in a busy ferry year in Denmark
FerryNew figures from Statistics Denmark for passenger and freight transport paint a picture of heavy activity at Danish ports. A total of 30,770,000 passengers used either one of Denmark’s domestic or international ferry routes last year. The Øresundslinjen route between Helsingør and Helsingborg alone carried 257,000 more passengers last year compared with the previous year - an increase of 4%.
There was also strong demand on the departures between Ystad and Bornholm. Here, Bornholmslinjen carried 40,000 more passengers last year, reaching a total of 1.8 million passengers - the highest passenger figure ever recorded. Ferry routes connecting the Danish islands with the mainland (excluding Bornholm) experienced an 8% increase last year compared with 2024.
As a result, the island ferries carried 5.9 million passengers in 2025. Passenger numbers on the international ferry routes operated by Molslinjen, Scandlines, Go Nordic Cruiseline, and Fjord Line increased overall by more than 1% in 2025 compared with the previous year.
