Özata builds third electric double-ended ferry for Torghatten
FerryTurkish Özata Shipyard has held the first steel cutting for a newbuilding project, a 76.8-metre double-ended electric ferry with capacity for 202 passengers and 60 cars for the Norwegian ferry operator Torghatten.
The ceremony took place on 4 November as a result of the exercise of an option, following the shipyard’s building numbers 101 and 102, TBN: MISTERØY and FLØYTIND, which were contracted by Torghatten in 2024 for delivery in 2026.
The series is designed by Norwegian Ship Design and includes, among other features, a 1,960-kWh battery pack. The first two vessels in the series are ordered for use on the Festvåg–Misten and Bodø–Kjerringøy routes. This series for Torghatten represents the first order from Northern Europe for ferries at Özata Shipyard.
