Øresundslinjen hits 16-year high for foot passengers
FerryMeasured by foot passengers, the Øresundslinjen ferries between Helsingør and Helsingborg have not had a better November since 2008. A total of 272,311 travellers boarded in November this year. This is 16 per cent better than in November 2024.
Back in November 2008, there were 278,287 foot passengers on the ferries.
“Øresundslinjen has become a floating underground (tube) between two cities and in two different countries. We are connecting the region – not least during the Christmas season,” says Molslinjen CEO, Kristian Durhuus.
The total number of foot passengers includes the so-called “tura-guests” (round-trip guests), who remain on board for several return departures—there were also more of these than in any November ever before.
“We can see that our newly renovated restaurants are practically drawing full houses—and it has been like that for most of 2025, so it’s a huge credit to the employees who maintain a high standard,” says Kristian Durhuus.
He is now looking forward to a December with full focus on Christmas traffic—and he will still keep a watchful eye on the restaurants.
“We can see that there is very keen interest in the onboard Christmas parties (julefrokoster), so if I’m not mistaken, we will surpass what we have seen previously there as well,” says Kristian Durhuus.
In total, 444,819 passengers travelled with the ferries this November by car, coach, lorry, or on foot.
