The newbuilding will accommodate 655 passengers and will be built in compliance with HSC Category B requirements. The design comes from Italian naval architecture firm M2Engineers.

Naples-based NLG currently operates a fleet of 11 active high-speed craft, ranging from the 41-metre, 280 GT SORRENTO JET of 1990 to the 56.65-metre, 840 GT JUMBO JET, delivered by Cantiere Navale Vittoria in June 2021 and the fleet's largest unit by passenger capacity at 673. The fleet also includes the 60-metre, 2,332 GT SANTA LUCIA, built by Fjellstrand in 1999, and the 50.5-metre VESUVIO JET of 2003, the fastest in the fleet with a service speed of 36 knots.

Much of the fleet dates from the late 1980s and early 1990s — including AMALFI JET, CAPRI JET, ISCHIA JET, NAPOLI JET, SALERNO JET and SORRENTO JET, all built between 1988 and 1992 — making the new 655-passenger craft a further step in the operator's tonnage renewal.

NLG's services are concentrated in the Bay of Naples and along the Amalfi Coast, linking Naples with Capri, Sorrento, Ischia, Positano, Amalfi and Salerno, with the company's ship names closely reflecting that network. The operator is also present in the Adriatic, where the TREMITI JET name points to services to the Tremiti Islands.
