China delivers second domestically built large cruise ship ADORA FLORA CITY
CruiseShanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) delivered ADORA FLORA CITY to Adora Cruises on 6 November. The handover completes China's programme to build its first two large cruise ships, which began with the contract signed by CSSC, Carnival Corporation and Fincantieri in November 2018 and has taken 13 years of research and five years of design and construction.
ADORA FLORA CITY is a sister of ADORA MAGIC CITY, which SWS delivered on 4 November 2023, but she is larger. At 341 metres and 141,900 GT she is 17.4 metres longer and 6,400 GT larger than the first ship. She has a beam of 37.2 metres, a design draught of 8.17 metres and a top speed of 22.7 knots. She has 2,130 cabins and suites and can carry up to 5,232 guests. Two scrubber systems and five SCR systems have been added, and the share of Chinese-made equipment has risen by about five percentage points to around 35%.
The ship is due at the Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport on 12 November and will start her first season from Guangzhou on 22 November.
