Morace’s Liberty Lines to rejuvenate its high-speed fleet at its home shipyard
Hi-speedTrapani-based HSC Shipyard, controlled by the Morace family, is working on the construction of five new fast ferry units on account of Liberty Lines (formerly Ustica Lines) and half-owned Siremar (the other 50% is controlled by Caronte & Tourist).
The construction of the first unit, capable to board 250 passengers, started soon after the delivery of GIANNI M - first unit to inaugurate the new in-house production, launched in summer 2016 as the largest hydrofoil in the world, being capable of 350 passengers – for completion due by May 2017.
The high-speed newbuilding will replace the MASACCIO.
The other four hydrofoils will be progressively deployed, one per year, to replace older units of the series 160F (JUMBO EOLIE, JUMBO MESSINA, JUMBO ZIBIBBO and CRIS M) engaged on Siremar routes.
Each newbuilding is rated at the value of MEUR 8.
