The share of electric cars on the ferries is as much as 29.5 percent, which is significant compared to the share of electric cars in Denmark, which is approximately 17-18 percent.

And now the electric cars get even more motivation for a ferry trip. Molslinjen has just set up eight new superchargers at the lanes at the port of Aarhus. They have a total of 16 charging points – and at Odden Ferry Harbour, a completely similar charging setup is ready for inauguration a little later this year.

"We hope that cheap and fast charging will make it even more attractive to take the ferry," explains Molslinjen's commercial director, Lucas Kragh. He will therefore set a sharp introductory price.

"The price will initially be one kroner per kWh. After our introductory offer, we will continue to make sure to offer low prices that make it attractive for our travelers to charge their car with us," explains Lucas Kragh.

It is not yet possible to book charging in advance. When a car arrives at the vending machines at the port, the number plate will reveal whether it is an electric car. After this, the vending machine will offer the option of charging at one of the 16 charging sockets.

"We want to make it easy for ferry customers with an electric car to let go of range anxiety. So here they can arrive a little earlier for their departure and refuel so much power that they don't have to wonder if they can get to the other side of the Kattegat," says Lucas Kragh.

Each of the new stations delivers 300 kW – and they will open for charging for the first time on Monday 26 January 2026.
