Marathon acquires Omborddata and Panasoft
Marathon Software has acquired Sweden's Omborddata AB and Finland's Panasoft Oy. The combined group becomes a Nordic provider of specialised software for crew management and payroll administration for the maritime industry. The acquisitions bring together two companies under common ownership. Omborddata holds a strong position in the Swedish market and Panasoft in the Finnish market.
With Marathon as the new majority owner, the companies gain a long-term partner that contributes expertise and resources to support product and technology development.
Founders and key people in both companies remain and become co-owners of the new group. Christer Bruzelius joins the board. He has experience from senior positions within Nordic shipping and was previously CEO of Destination Gotland, among other roles.
Mattias Swenson, CEO of Omborddata, comments:
"After 20 years in the industry, we hold a leading position in the Swedish market. Our focus has always been to make things easier for our customers, and being able to do that together with Panasoft, which holds an equivalent position in Finland, is a significant step. Marathon's long-term strategy, resources and expertise in developing vertical software add further capacity to deliver for our customers."
Joni Kivi, CEO of Panasoft, says:
"Combining forces with a similar company gives us a stronger opportunity to serve our customers in Finland, Sweden and beyond. Building resilience in the team and the services supports long-term partnerships with customers."
Johan Hazelius, Marathon Software, adds:
"From the first meeting with the teams at Omborddata and Panasoft, we noted the depth of their domain expertise and the strength of their products. Both companies operate in the same business-critical part of the maritime industry, where understanding customers' everyday work and regulatory frameworks is essential. That domain expertise is to be preserved, while we invest in further product development."
The plan going forward is to continue developing the group's position as a Nordic provider of software for crew management and payroll administration by accelerating product development, while preserving the companies' close relationship with their markets and customers.
