Last of North Sea Ferries’ “transcontinental sisters” scrapped
FerryThe 38-year-old GNV ANTARES arrived in mid-December at the shipbreaking beach in Aliaga, Turkey. GNV ANTARES was originally delivered to the then North Sea Ferries by the Japanese shipyard Nippon Kokan/Tsurumi Shipyard as NORSUN, in a relatively unusual arrangement in which the then Glasgow-based yard Govan Shipbuilders was simultaneously building the “sister ship” NORSEA for the same customer.
NORSEA was scrapped in Aliaga a year ago. Both vessels spent their retirement with GNV.
