Grimaldi sells GRANDE SCANDINAVIA, GRANDE ELLADE and GRANDE ROMA
Ro-roGrimaldi Euromed has applied to the harbourmaster in Palermo to remove three car carriers from the Italian register after selling them to buyers outside the European Union. The transactions have reportedly been completed or are close to completion.
London-based Bright Flag Shipping is buying the sisters GRANDE SCANDINAVIA and GRANDE ELLADE, which will be registered in Panama. Both were built by Daewoo Shipbuilding in South Korea in 2001 and have a capacity of 4,598 cars on 52,589 GT. Grandtin Holding Group of Ningbo, China, is acquiring the 2003 Uljanik-built GRANDE ROMA, which will be registered in Hong Kong. The 196-metre ship measures 44,431 GT and can carry 5,379 cars.
An earlier application, published in October 2025, named Seoul-based Samjoo Maritime as the buyer of GRANDE ROMA, but that sale appears not to have been completed. Later in October 2025, GRANDE ROMA suffered an engine-room fire in the English Channel and was towed to Le Havre. Grimaldi's new application naming Grandtin was filed on 18 September.
The Grimaldi Group also recently sold GRANDE COLONIA (2007) and GRANDE NAPOLI (2003) to United Global Ro-Ro (UGR), which has renamed them UGR AQABA and UGR SAFAGA.
