Gotlandsbolaget – one of the investors behind Brommaflyg
Gotlandsbolaget is one of the parties behind the newly launched airline, Brommaflyg. The investment is being made together with several other Gotland-based partners and aims to ensure long-term, reliable air connections between Gotland and the mainland.
Gotland depends on well-functioning transport links, both by sea and by air. Historically, Bromma Airport has played a key role in bringing the island closer to Stockholm and the rest of Sweden. Through this initiative, Gotlandsbolaget is helping to create the conditions for continued accessibility – something that is vital for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Discussions about the new air route have been ongoing throughout the year, and Gotlandsbolaget has been involved from the very beginning in making the project a reality. After months of planning, preparation, and collaboration between the Gotland investors, the inaugural flight took place on 26 October.
“We are proud to be able to help secure an important part of Gotland’s transport infrastructure. The flight service complements the ferry routes and strengthens Gotland’s appeal as both a place to live and a travel destination,” says Björn Nilsson, CEO of Gotlandsbolaget.
Gotlandsbolaget and Destination Gotland will continue to focus on ferry operations and will not have an operational role in Brommaflyg, but they view the investment as a natural step in the company’s long-term commitment to Gotland’s development.
“For us, this is all about Gotland’s accessibility. When air travel works well, it benefits the entire island – and, ultimately, our own business too,” Nilsson continues.
