Gosport Ferry sold to the parent company of Uber Boat by Thames Clipper
FerryThe famous Gosport Ferry service, which has provided daily passenger services across Portsmouth Harbour, between Gosport and Portsea for over 100 years, has new owners. The ferry company’s existing owners, the FIH Group (formerly the Falklands Islands Group) has sold the business to the parent company of Uber Boat by Thames Clipper – Collins River Enterprises, for GBP 11.6 million.
Currently the Gosport Ferry operates a three-ship fleet of passenger vessels that provide foot passengers the fastest way to connect between Gosport and Portsmouth, saving a 25-mile round trip by road. The service is used by workers in the Royal Navy and those who work on either side of the harbour, as well as by local residents and visitors alike.
The current fleet comprises:
• SPIRIT OF GOSPORT – a 32.6m vessel built in 2001
• SPIRIT OF PORTSMOUTH - a 32.6m vessel built in 2005
• HARBOUR SPIRIT – a 29.6m vessel built in 2015
All three ferries carry foot passengers and cyclists only, each having a capacity for 300 passengers.
