GNV adds the former SHARDEN and MOBY VINCI to its fleet

FerryGNV (MSC Group) announced the addition of two new ro-paxes to its fleet, the former SHARDEN and MOBY VINCI. Renamed GNV SIRIO and GNV AURIGA, they will now become part of GNV’s fleet, which spans 28 ships and serves 31 lines in seven countries.

The two ships, having completed the necessary maintenance, outfitting and updating of the livery with GNV colours, will begin operating in the next few weeks on the company's Italian routes. GNV SIRIO will operate on the Genoa-Palermo-Genoa line from 20 March, while GNV AURIGA will be operational from 28 March on the Genoa-Porto Torres-Genoa line.

“The entry into the fleet of these two new units represents a crucial element to contribute to the growth of our capacity in terms of passengers and transportable lane metres, but it is also an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen our presence in the Mediterranean - in particular towards Sicily and Sardinia, in two of the historic routes for our company - confirming our commitment to strengthening what has always been a key market for the development of GNV", declared Matteo Catani, CEO of GNV .

The two sister units, built in 2004 and 2005 at the Fincantieri shipyards in Castellamare di Stabia and previously part of the fleet of the Moby Group, both have 39,798 gt and 214 metres of length and will allow the company to increase its commercial cargo capacity of over 4,000 lane metres.
