FRS orders new Helgoland catamaran for €17 million
Hi-speedA new passenger catamaran will be put into service in 2018, on the popular route from Hamburg via Cuxhaven to Helgoland (Germany's island in the North Sea), replacing the popular HALUNDER JET of FRS Helgoline.
The Flensburger-based company Förde Reederei Seetouristik (FRS) has signed a contract with Austal, for the construction of a 692-passenger catamaran. The order is worth some €17 million.
The 56.4m newbuilding was developed especially for the Helgoland traffic. Focus was put on large outside areas, to enjoy the view, and good sea keeping characteristics.
The 35-knot catamaran will be delivered as early as spring 2018,
She will increase the daily capacity on the Hamburg-Helgoland line by 20%.
With this investment, FRS, which has been operating on Helgoland since 1984, intends to further strengthen and expand its market position.
