First of three Woolwich Free Ferries towed to Le Havre for scrap

FerryFive October saw the end of an era on the River Thames when the first of three passenger/vehicle ferries that have maintained the Woolwich Free Ferry service across the river from Woolwich to North Woolwich – JOHN BURNS – was towed away to be broken up in Le Havre, France.
