Grimaldi close to 100,000 transported cars from Stellantis-led joint venture
Ro-roLeapmotor, the Stellantis-led joint venture dedicated to expanding electric vehicles outside China, has reinforced its strategic partnership with the Grimaldi Group to support the brand's rapid growth across Europe.
In the 18-month period from late 2024, the collaboration enabled the consignment of nearly 100,000 vehicles from China to Europe. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, more than 20,000 vehicles were delivered to the Italian market through a coordinated program of 15 sailings connecting China with major European gateways including Antwerp, Portbury, Valencia, Vigo, Setúbal, Livorno, Civitavecchia and Gioia Tauro. This is stated by Grimaldi China in an entry on LinkedIn.
The logistics program is supported by the Grimaldi Group's latest generation of ammonia-ready car carriers.
Beyond maritime transit, the partnership relies on Grimaldi's integrated logistics platform and infrastructure investments. Spanning nearly 6 million sqm of fully equipped port areas in strategic locations across Europe, these facilities enable highly efficient and streamlined vehicle handling processes including preparation, maintenance and battery charging.
The logistics program is built on three key pillars: end-to-end supply chain planning and synchronization to align production with shipping capacity; close coordination between maritime, port and inland operations; and a continuous focus on operational discipline and continuous improvement.
This integrated approach allows Leapmotor and Grimaldi to manage peak volumes exceeding 5,400 vehicles per vessel call while maintaining high standards of operational efficiency, reliability and flexibility.
"Logistics is a key differentiator and a strategic lever for competitiveness in the modern automotive sector," said Leapmotor’s VP of Global Supply Chain & Purchasing, Alessandro Furnò.
He is supplemented by Grimaldi Group Automotive Intercontinental Director, Luigi Pacella Grimaldi:
"We're proud to support Leapmotor International during this transformative phase of their European expansion. This is more than a service agreement; it's a long-term partnership built on trust and shared execution," Luigi Pacella Grimaldi added.
