First of three new Torghatten ferries from Özata Shipyard on sea trials
FerryÖzata Shipyard in Türkiye has begun sea trials of newbuilding no. 101 in the waters off Yalova in the Istanbul region. Hull no. 101, TBN: MISTERØY, is the first of three (2+1) newbuildings ordered from the yard by Norway’s Torghatten Nord in 2024.
The three 76.8-metre-long and 15.5-metre-wide fully electric double-ended ferries are based on Norwegian Ship Design Company’s NSD60Cfe design, which includes a battery installation with a total capacity of 1,960 kWh.
The ferries will be deployed on Torghatten Nord’s route between Festvåg and Misten, which forms part of the main road connection between Kjerringøy and Bodø in the Nordland region.
