Fincantieri’s Isotta Fraschini Motori Launches Hydrogen Fuel Cell Line in Bari
YardIsotta Fraschini Motori (IFM), a Fincantieri subsidiary, inaugurated a new hydrogen fuel cell production line in Bari, backed by a EUR 30 million investment over five years. The facility, part of the Innovation and Development Center, aims to advance zero-emission technologies for naval and land applications, supporting decarbonization.
The first application will be a marinized fuel cell module for the upcoming VIKING LIBRA, the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship. This aligns with Fincantieri’s sustainability goals, leveraging IPCEI “Hy2Tech” funds to drive hydrogen technology and strengthen Southern Italy’s industrial growth.
