EKOL takes over EMT in Trieste

Ro-roEkol Logistics has acquired 65% into EMT Europa Multipurpose Terminals, the private operator of the Italian port utilised for its ro-ro and train services, located in Trieste, where it has a 25-year concession; Francesco Parisi Parisi S.p.A. sold its shares altogether with Friulia Spa, the financial company of Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The acquisition complements ideally the modern ro-ro terminal that the Turkish company is currently building at home in Yalova, Anatolia, slated for completion in early 2017.
With these planned investments two separate ro-ro operations can be handled simultaneously, increasing train loading capacity to 10 services a day. Currently providing services to Turkish and Greek vessels, the port will add Israel and Egypt to its portfolio; annual capacity of 110,000 vessels and 70,000 trains in 2016 is slated to rise to 140,000 vessels and 100,000 trains in 2017.
Ekol began its operations in 1990 and today holds distribution centers boasting 750,000 m² indoor areas in Turkey, Germany, Italy, Greece, France, Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Romania, Hungary, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Iran as well as a fleet of 5,500 own trailers.
