DFDS 2030 conversion and newbuild programme
During DFDS’ Capital Markets Day, the group’s 2030 conversion and newbuild programme was revealed. In 2026, a newbuilding programme for green ferries is expected to commence for DFDS with capex investments of around DKK 0.5 billion. In the following years, 2027-2030, green ferry capex is expected to amount to around DKK 1.75 billion annually.
The programme covers six planned newbuildings in total: two methanol-fuelled ro-paxes for the Amsterdam - Newcastle route, two Incat fully electric Channel newbuilds and two ammonia-fuelled ro-ro’s. The group will also convert existing ro-ro vessels to run on methanol.
